Big Apple Bound for Putnam & England, Co.

What is it about NYC that makes it so irresistible? The art, the architecture, the museums, the food, the subways, or the people? There literally is no other place on earth that has that special something that NYC possesses.

Big Apple Bound is a stationery program inspired by vintage 1950’s Travel Advertisements of NYC. Using a jewel-tone palette and familiar city landmarks, the program is a combination of original artwork and reproductions of vintage maps and city iconography. 

The Goodman Theater in Chicago acquired the rights to use my illustration Broadway Bound for the set design of their 2016 production of Leonard Bernstein's musical Wonderful Town. Tony© award-winning set designer, Todd Rosenthal, developed the set from the illustration. The show ran August through late October 2016 and is currently in negotiations to go to Broadway. Road Trip for Putnam & England, Co.

Get out the map and gas up the car! It's time of r a road trip! Road trip is a line of vintage-style neon motel signs seen across the US from Route 66 to Highway 10.

This is my first wall calendar produced for Echo Park Paper Company. The project is near and dear to my heart. It is filled with imagery from the memories of my childhood road trips with my parents. Each summer we set forth in our station wagon to tour America's major cities and State Parks. When I view these I can almost hear the AM Radio crooning country western tunes as we passed the soda pop and Cheese-Its around while enjoying the journey along with the destinations.

This is my new line of vintage-style paperer Carta Bella paper Co. that celebrates the great American Road Trip.

This is my new line "Gone Camping" for Carta Bella Paper Co.  It's a line of paper products celebrating everything that is camping. Many of the images in the line are illustrations of memories from my childhood camping days.

This is my new line "Let's Cruise" for Carta Bella Paper Co.  It's a line of paper products celebrating ocean cruising of yester-years.

“All Aboard!” is my new vintage train tavel paper line for Carta Bella Paper Co. I have loved trains for as long as I can remember and this line was a complete joy to work on.

This is a work that is almost completed. some illustrations may change. Riffing off of my extremely popular paper line, Metropolitan Girl, we are going forward with a version two. Metropolitan Girl and Paris.

Metropolitan Girl is Carta Bella Paper's celebration of style, shopping and world travel. Distinctly feminine, Metropolitan Girl showcases the glamorous life, Fashion Week, and must-visit destinations.

GET OUT THE MAP

Can I do maps? YES! I love old maps. As a kid I was always the navigator during family road trips and vacations. I'd have a bunch of maps and Trip-Tics spread out on the back sheet of our station wagon, helping my Dad navigate. At home I'd spend times looking at maps, studying geography and topography and planing my fantasy trips for when I grew up. I still love maps and collect vintage maps as a hobby.

This new line, Cartography No. 1, for Carta Bella Paper Co. is all about maps and vintage atlas’. The project was one of the most challenging projects that i have worked on beause of all of the city names. To make sure everything was accurate to 1950’s standards 9when the maps would have been printed) I had to research several series of atlas’, printed maps and topography charts. Luckily Carta Bella has a wonderful proofing staff!

The Sunshine State for Putnam & England, Co.

Florida is synonymous with Spring Break, itty-bity bikinis, pastel art deco patterns, and some of the U.S.'s most revered vacation destinations.  The Sunshine State is a celebration of vintage Florida pop-culture. You can almost hear Connie Francis singing Where the Boys Are when viewing this warm and sunny stationery program.

Aloha State for Putnam & England, Co.

“Oh We’re Going to a Hukilau”,  journeying across the vast blue Pacific to the tiny chain of islands that we call Hawai’i, the Aloha State, one of the most beloved tropical destinations on earth.

Aloha State is a stationery program inspired by vintage Hawaiiana. A cohesive vintage tropical palette ties the artwork together. The program is a combination of original artwork and reproductions of souvenir advertisements and vintage maps from yesteryears.

Remember the days when flying was fun and classy? Fly Me, Putnam and England, Co's nostalgic stationery program features imagery popular during the golden age of air travel. It is homage to the brave pilots and stewardesses of yesteryears.

“Hey batter, batter, SWING!” Baseball is my latest line of papers for Carta Bella Paper Co. It celebrates baseball from Little League to the Professionals.

For Summer 2017 Carta Bella Paper requisitioned Cartopia, a "boy" focused line of stationery products that represents the Great American Road Trip.  This line was so much fun to create. Memories of trips across the country with my family, souvenir stops at Trading Posts, and playing the License Plate Game to make the hours in our car fly by. 

This paper line was introduced at CHA 2017 by Carta Bella Paper Co.

The illustration of the kids bedroom is an illustration of my grown son't bedroom circa 1995. This line has a lot of wonderful memories of my son' early years infused into it. I can't begin to tell you how many nights I wound up stepping on toy arm men and Barrel of Monkey pieces in the dark. And my son was a huge dinosaur fanatic. He bought a two and a half foot toy dinosaur in Florence, Italy and it travel with us all over Europe during one family vacation. I still think about dinosaurs when I see images of France, Italy and Greece.

Well Giddy-Up! My new line Cowboy Country for Carta Bella just released. It was so fun to work on and is dear to my heart. I come from a  family of ranchers and cowboys. My Grandad Frank was a REAL cowboy who herded cattle from Oklahoma to Corona, CA in the early 1900's. My Mom grew up living on several Inidan Reservations in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico during the 1920's.

Both my Grandad and mom had amazing stories of their live's living on the range. My Mom took me to many reservations when I was a child, showing me the beauty, culture and history of Native American life. I have tried to visually portray the stories that they would share in this new line.

Practically Perfect is my new line for Carta Bella paper Company and  was inspired by turn of the century London and some of it's fictional inhabitants.

This is my new Vintage Space line designed for Carta Bella Paper Co.

Growing up we had rocket and space posters all over our house. My dad wasn't a rocket scientist but he worked for NASA on the Mercury, Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle missions. Growing up with these images;  during a time when Lost In Space, The Outer Limits and Star Trek were on at Primetime; I was so excited to get this project. It's a little bit of an homage to my childhood and a tribute to my Dad and all of the people who helped launch America into space.

This is my new “Fall” line for Carta Bella Paper Co.  It's a line of paper products celebrating the splendor of Fall.

For Halloween 2017 Carta Bella Paper requisitioned Haunted House, a follow up to my 2015 Halloween line Trick or Treat.  This line was so much fun to create. I love haunted houses, ghosts, and all that is vintage and scary...but not too scary. My grandfather and Uncle Bob worked at Universal Studios/California back in the 1930's when they were making the original Frankenstein. They worked on the sets and as extras in the film and would share fun memories as campfire stories during our camping trips.

Trick or Treat for Carta Bella Paper Co.

"Boo!" Say "Trick of Treat" to Carta Bella's 2015 Halloween line of scrapbooking papers. 

This is my new “Christmas” line for Carta Bella Paper Co.  It's a line of paper products celebrating Santa Claus and the North Pole.

For Christmas 2017 Carta Bella Paper requisitioned A Very Merry Christmas, a "retro" line of 1960's inspired Christmas stationery products.  I grew up in Los Angeles and we didn't have snow, however, Christmastime was always magical and I have put many fond memories of my childhood Christmas' into this line.

"It's Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas!" "Christmas Wonderland" is Carta Bella's 2015 Victorian-inspired line of Christmas scrapbooking papers. 

My new country collection for Carta Bella Paper Co.

For Fall 2017 Carta Bella Paper requisitioned Country Kitchen, a "kitschy" line of stationery products harkening back to country kitchens of yesteryear.  This line is an homage to my Aunt Theda, who was the best cook that I’ve ever met and my Aunt Cleo who discovered shabby chic years before it was ever popular. They are the people whom fostered my affection for all things vintage and antiques.
